Counting my blessings

~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~

I have been struggling with kidney stone complications/infections since just before New Years.

I've been in and out of the hospital and on/off of antibiotics.

After many delays I have finally had the procedure/surgery and am feeling better.

I didn't realize how bad I felt until I turned the corner toward feeling better.

I was in the hospital for 6 days and then home for a week after that!

My daughter and granddaughter came down to visit with me on Wednesday!

We went to the garden center and then out to lunch.

Six days is a very long time to be in hospital!

I was so blessed by the genuine care the nurses gave me.

There was a little family room at the end of the hall and I spent some time there every day because I had

a roommate and no window.

If I tilted my head to the right and held the blinds open with my foot I could see Abbot Hall which stands

on the top of a large hill in my own home town.

It was comforting when I was feeling homesick.

My sister sent me this beautiful bouquet and every nurse, doctor, or visitor...or any of the other

gazillion people coming in to the room for either me or my roommate...stopped to admire them.

I have to say that I think they looked prettiest when they were home on my own kitchen table.

While I was at the garden center with Bonnie and Natalie I bought a beautiful

lavender topiary. It's on the bureau in my bedroom and it's so fragrant.

I spent some time planting my window box as well. It's not exactly a window box as it sits on the railing

just outside of the back door. I took the picture from above so it looks a bit awkward.

I just love those daisy flowers whose name escapes me at the moment.

  1. Sorry to hear you were so unwell - I know that kidney stones can be very painful but thankfully not from personal experience. I spent 5 days in hospital back in 2021 and there were still some covid style restrictions in place on visitors and definitely a no flowers rule in place. Your flowers are lovely. I hope you're soon fully recovered and don't have any reoccurrence. Take it easy.

  2. Oh dear...I've never had kidney stones but my sister Hope did and it was very painful. I'm glad you are on the road to a full recovery.
How beautiful all of your flowers are. I love the window box!
And the pic of you and granddaughter is precious.
    Happy Weekend and rest well!

  3. I was wondering why you had not posted. I am glad you are better. My cousin has gone through that too! Those are lovely flowers. You don't often blue flowers in a bouquet unless a baby boy was born. Nice that your family could help you out. I had a health scare too and wrote about it at my blog. Have a nice weekend!

  4. Oh wow. I am sorry you had all that pain and that you had to spend six days in the hospital. The good part is that you are well now and pain free.
The bouquet from your sister is beautiful. And having family visit is so comforting.
I hope you can rest and enjoy all the flowers. And take some walks along the seashore.

  5. Oh wow--I'm so sorry you've been going through all of that. I'm glad you're home and hope you feel back to 100% soon. Both the bouquet from the hospital and the outdoor flowers are pretty.
