My sister sent me this old picture of us with my mother..probably circa 1966.
I'm on the right with the dark hair. I'm not sure what the story with my haircut is. It looks like I cut it myself.
Here is one that's a little more recent.
I am posting from this new blog. Normally, I am posting at A Spirit of Simplicity but I really miss Blogger.
It's still me, Kara or Hopie as my grandchildren call me.

Walking early of a Saturday morning.
I watched this boat checking it's traps just outside the mouth of the harbour.
Begin the hours of this day slow...

Sunday afternoon I felt a little peckish so I spent time in the air conditioning catching up on some reading.

Hydrangeas are the quintessential coastal New England flower in July and even more so when they are relaxing over a white picket fence.

Every morning when I leave for work my cat, Tucker, sits in the window to see me off.
This is one of his favourite spots as it gives him a birdseye view of the neighborhood goings on.
Some of the neighbors (especially the children) know his name and say hello as they pass by.

I love this blog and that is an adorable pic of you! both of them!! i had a bad haircut like that in the mid 60s as well. what were our mothers thinking??!! :)
ReplyDeleteHydrangeas in New England is a flower I look for all the time when we are in Maine, NH, MA....we stayed at a cottage once on the Cape (Chatham) that had gorgeous blue ones. My fave are the blue ones. But the pink are pretty too. My youngest daughter grew some successfully in a large pot on her apt balcony last summer. I tried growing them but was told our soil in the yard wasn't acidic enough or something. I would LOVE to try again.
I hope you have a relaxing weekend.
Faith, the acid in the soil determines the color of some of the varieties of hydrangea. Acidic soil gives blue flowers and alkaline soil will produce pink flowers. You can change your soil by adding things to it to achieve which color you want.
DeleteWhat a beautiful place you live-- the bay and the hydrangeas. I own a hydrangea and some of the blooms are pink and some are blue (who knows why??)
ReplyDeleteI love that Tucker sits in the window and waves goodbye to you. So cute that neighborhood kids know his name.
I think we all managed to get a crazy kid haircut at least once. Hopefully mine wasn't documented. I'll have to look.
Enjoy the beach and bay!
We've been going through boxes, and I found some photos of my younger sisters on the beach, taken probably after I went to college or got married. It was fun to send them to them via Messenger and hear their comments. How sweet that your cat sees you off. My son's cat likes the window, too. We have a lovely blur hydrangea bush. I'd love to have pink ones, but I've read the color depends on the soil.
