Remember me for this also, my God,
and look on me with compassion
according to the abundance of your steadfast love.
Nehemiah 13:22b
~
I am reading Nehemiah in a bible study from She Reads Truth.
We are memorizing this verse.
In the chapter Nehemiah is directing the rebuilding of the wall in Jerusalem which is very important work.
My work may not be quite so important but I can't help but think as I go about my day
if I would use these words to appeal to the Lord.
Would I want him remembering all of the things I am doing?
Am I doing things I would want him to remember?
I believe that is my responsibility and my obligation to be doing things and thinking things
that I want the Lord to remember.
They don't have to be done perfectly but they do have to be done with the right heart and in the right spirit.
If (and when) I fail in doing the right things then I can ask the Lord for his compassion and his abundant
and steadfast love.
